Dr. Robert Desimone is the director of the MIT McGovern Institute for Brain Research and the Doris and Don Berkey Professor of Neuroscience in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT. Robert is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Moreover, he has served as a director at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the largest research organization in the world specializing in mental illness. His laboratory has outstanding achievements in brain cognition. Numerous cutting-edge research results have been published on Nature, Science, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, PNAS, and many other top neuroscience journals.

Robert sits on the boards of directors of the three McGovern Institutes in China (Tsinghua Univ, Peking Univ, and Beijing Normal Univ). He has also helped develop The Brain Cognition and Brain Disease Institute at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology. Furthermore, he was the judge and the international team leader for “The Brain,” a popular TV show in China. Robert graduated from Macalester College and Princeton University.
